Mjet flies to Aruba since the introduction of our
Boeing 767's. The island is very popular with
both Europeans (Dutch/English/Belgian people),
South and North Americans.

The island has a perfect climate throughout the
whole year with a lot of sun on a daily basis and
almost no clouds. The wind gives a nice and very
welcoming breeze.

Aruba’s strategic location was recognized by the
Dutch who initially occupied the island in 1636 to
protect their salt supply from the mainland and
establish a naval base in the Caribbean during
their 80-year war with Spain. Further economic
development continued through the Dutch West
India Company located on the neighboring island
of Curaçao. Aruba remained in Dutch hands,
except for a brief hiatus under English rule from
1805-1816, during the Napoleonic Wars.

Aruba is an amazing island of diversity and
contrasts and so it is with the arts. Literature in
the native Papiamento language is flecked by
nostalgia but speaks of a modern spirit.  Music
weaves a multi-cultural background into a rapid
rhythm of melodic content; dance ranges from
quaint retelling of a folkloric past to
experimental, unfettered contemporary
movements.

Enjoyed by young and old, by spectators as well
as participants, Carnaval is a mesmerizing, mind-
boggling extravaganza. Its beginnings can be
traced back to the feasts of antiquity held to
honor such gods as Bacchus and Saturn.

Aruba offers a bountiful selection of newly
constructed shopping/entertainment centers in
the high-rise resort area and downtown store-
lined streets and upscale malls, as well as a
potpourri of unique boutiques and emporiums.
Friendly, knowledgeable and multilingual
salespeople will assist you wherever you go.

Transport to/from Aruba Airport
Aeropuerto Internacional Reina Beatrix has been
turned into a modern and passenger friendly
airport. The expansion entailed the construction
of 2 completely new terminal buildings for
departure and hold room areas and the
renovation of the existing terminal building for
arrivals.

The Airport is situated only 10 minutes away
from Oranjestad. All Hotels and Resorts are also
on a short distance.

Aruba has a public transportation system with
busstops just outside the airport. Just outside
the airport property there are bus-stops,
regularly serviced by Aruba's Bus transportation
company, Arubus.

Across the arrival terminal there are 10 car
rental agencies, including internationally known
brands and local. Whether you like a car to
cruise around the island in style or a 4x4 that
can take you through the rough terrains of
Aruba, you can always find a car that meets your
demands amongst the car rental operators.
