Airport in View; Rotterdam

Mjet flies to the second biggest city of The
Netherlands and the biggest port of Europe for
many years already. Almost during the entire
presence of our airline in the European aviation,
we have flown charter- and/or scheduled flights
to/from Rotterdam.
Since over a year now Mjet has re-started the
base at this regional airport. And that is not
without reason!
Some four million visitors find their way to the
wide variety of top attractions in Rotterdam each
year. The city offers something for everyone:
those who love the hectic bustle of the city or
who want to rise up into the air or who want to
look into the eyes of sharks, but also for people
who are searching for the peace and beauty of
nature.
One of Rotterdam's main attractions is
Diergaarde Blijdorp, the extensive zoo that
includes the impressive Oceanium, where visitors
can walk through the huge shark tunnel
surrounded by sharks and giant tortoises.
A visit to Rotterdam would not be complete
without a tour of the harbour on the Spido or a
visit to the 185m-high Euromast.
Fun for the whole family can be had at the
Plaswijckpark with its extensive playground,
road safety training park and zoo. For an oasis
of peace in the middle of the hectic city, visit the
lovely gardens of Arboretum Trompenburg.
Now is the time to discover the shopping
paradise of The Netherlands. Rotterdam is
different. A vibrant metropolis, whose
magnificent skyline is easy to recognise from
afar, but which calls for some serious attention
and an adventurous spirit when you are actually
there.
Do you have an adventurous nature or are you
an adventurer? And do you want to spend a day
or more discovering what the city has to offer for
shoppers? Armed with eight unique shopping
routes you can strip Rotterdam of its special
‘secrets’. The routes vary in length and
character. They all have their own ambiance. And
reveal a different aspect of the dynamic
shopping city every time.
In stylish Hillegersberg, just to the north of the
city centre, you will find shops to fulfil any
shopaholic’s dreams. Fashion, shoes and
delicacies for the true connoisseur are within
walking distance of each other in the cosy village
centre of Hillegersberg.
Rotterdam is famous for its port, the biggest in
Europe. During an impressive boat trip, you can
see the gigantic throughput facilities, which are
shifting further towards the sea all the time.
Simultaneously, the inner-city docklands are
being transformed into attractive, lively areas
with busy pavement cafés, innovative
architecture, unique bridges and an excellent
choice of shops, restaurants and bars.
Rotterdam has no lack in entertainment.
Various Mega cinemas en cinema theatres
cover the wide perspective of (cultural) cinema.
Every year in January Rotterdam houses the
renowned International Film Festival Rotterdam.
Young film producers from all over the world are
in the spotlights in almost all cinemas. Do you
like gambling? Then Holland Casino is the place
to go.
Clubbing city of The Netherlands: it is a title that
Rotterdam has won for itself by the explosive
growth of the number of cafés, restaurants,
clubs and discotheques over the last twenty
years. Rotterdam is the cradle of house and
dance music, a fact that is clear from the very
high quality of dance parties and clubs. Famous
locations for parties include club Maassilo, and
the trendy in-crowd of dance effortlessly
gravitates to clubs like Off_Corso and Herr
Zimmerman.
Rotterdam is also well renowned to the large
number of yearly events. Bavaria City Racing,
The Summer Carnival, The Gergiev Festival,
Rotterdam Marathon and Red Bull Air Race are
just a few of them. In 2010 Rotterdam will also
host the start of the Tour De France.
